Blandine Anderson
Sculpture
Blandine established her workshop in 1989, living and working in north Devon. Her work explores her interest in the creatures and landscapes of the British Isles. Her current inspiration comes from working in Ireland and Scotland where the landscape is particularly dramatic; the land in her new work has become more abstract, the creatures giving the landscapes a sense of scale, movement and mystery. All of the works are unique individually hand built in either porcelain or stoneware using slab and modelling. The colour and texture are then added using porcelain slips which are stencilled, painted and incised. Oxides and glazes are added after biscuit firing and then fired to stoneware temperatures. Onglaze enamel and metallic lustre are added at a third firing.
