Eleanor Bartleman
Porcelain
Eleanor Bartleman was brought up on Scotland’s Ayrshire coast. She studied ceramics at Glasgow School of Art, completing her postgraduate year in 1979, and set up her first workshop soon after. Initially working in earthenware, she pursued her interest in mythology and in particular, the Beast Epic Reynard the Fox, taking various strands of the mythology and developing her own style of figurative ceramics.
Eleanor moved to North Devon in 1990 and has been lecturing part-time in ceramics, and has recently concentrated again on full-time making, this time concentrating on porcelain. Eleanor is an elected member of the Devon Guild.
