Margaret Johnson
Glass

Margaret obtained a BA Hons in Fine Art and Sculpture at Goldsmith’s College in 1978, followed by a post-graduate course at Exeter University. After a long period teaching she decided to develop her own ideas. She started with watercolours and then explored the use of colour, texture and form with the translucency of glass with an unusual technique involving the use of straw silk fibre. A recent trip to Japan has inspired new designs. Beautifully coloured and arranged sushi are the source of new ideas which, together with the collection of wonderful handmade papers that Margaret returned with, combine to make this truly original artwork on glass.
