Thomas Morley is a ceramic artist living and working in Devon. After many years as a documentary photojournalist, the diagnosis of a brain tumor and subsequent surgery; put an end to a career working in and around conflict. It was though the start of something new, and unknowingly it opened a door to another world.
A love for ceramics has led Thomas to set up a small studio at his Home in the heart of Devon.
He is developing as a slipware potter; working with earthenware clays, natural colours and simple clear glazes. Many of his pieces have sgraffito designs and they are both wheel thrown and hand altered or constructed. Creating usable everyday pots and sculptural forms with a modern, contemporary and abstract feel. Much of Thomas’ work is sold to Italy.
