JULIA HILTON
Ceramics
Living on an organic dairy farm in North East Scotland for the last eight
years and observing the farming processes and cycles from soil to plate
inspire all of Julia’s work. Her Devon work is a result if a series
of walks through the East Devon landscape and the semi-ancient woodlands
of Stoke Woods near Exeter. Each species of plant was picked and pressed
into porcelain; the plant burns out on firing leaving its impression behind.
The clay slabs are then glazed leaving subtle plant imprints on a series
of butter & cheese platters which also look good as display pieces.
