JOHN MALTBY
Sculpture
John trained at Leicester and Goldsmiths originally as a sculptor and
then trained as a potter in David Leach’s studio. However, as an
admirer of Paul Klee, Picasso and Alfred Wallis he has seldom made two
pots the same. Since 1996 he started making figurative pieces, which are
made in stoneware clay and decorated with coloured clays. The Pieces are
fired to 1220 oC and a third firing to 750 oC for textured effects, making
each piece unique, with a simple beauty of form, filled with passion and
depth. John exhibits both internationally and within England.
