JOHN WHEELDON Fumed Raku

John studied ceramics while at Wolverhampton Polytechnic and is artist in residence in a school near his home in Derbyshire. He is well known for his fumed Raku using a copper matt glaze on thrown forms. The resulting pieces have a deep, colourful surface quality that richly contrasts with the smoked black clay body.
